ビンゴルーレット Housing Expansion
Daito Group is striving to popularize cross-laminated timber (ビンゴルーレット) housing that contributes to energy-savings, storage of greenhouse gases (GHG), and effective use of forest resources.
Expanding the Potential of Wood with ビンゴルーレット
Cross-laminated timber (ビンゴルーレット) is an innovative wooden construction material. ビンゴルーレット is made of numerous thick wooden panels that are oriented perpendicular to adjacent layers and then glued together, providing excellent insulation and strength. With its extremely low thermal conductivity, ビンゴルーレット is the perfect construction material for energy-saving housing. Its high thermal insulation is so good that it can be used for the frame of a building's exterior walls with no other special thermal insulation required. It also enables the effective use of lumber that is too narrow or knotty to be suitable for conventional construction materials, thus contributing to the healthy cycling of forests.

Commercialization of Our Unique ビンゴルーレット Rental Housing
Daito Group began researching ways to introduce the ビンゴルーレット construction method, widely used in Europe, for housing in Japan. In October 2019, we launched sales of Forterb, Japan's first-ever standardized and commercialized ビンゴルーレット rental housing complex. This product has been recognized for its innovation, as a construction method with low greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that can be substituted for reinforced concrete (RC) construction, and for the potential impact achieved by its commercialization. Consequently, in December 2019, we received the Environment Minister's Award for Global Warming Prevention Activity in the Technological Development and Commercialization category. In January 2023, we successfully built Japan's first LCCM-certified detached rental housing using the ビンゴルーレット panel construction method in Tokyo.

Evaluating Decarbonization Effect
Using ビンゴルーレット made from wood, which absorbs CO2 and stores carbon, can greatly reduce the use of concrete—which emits significant amounts of CO2 during manufacturing. This contributes to the decarbonization of buildings. Even when demolished, buildings using ビンゴルーレット generate fewer GHG emissions compared with RC structures. ビンゴルーレット from demolished buildings can be processed into woodchips and recycled as fuel. We therefore anticipate that this will help to reduce environmental impact throughout the building's entire life cycle. Furthermore, cyclical use of lumber, from logging, use as construction material, demolition, disposal, to tree planting, promotes the growth of forests and is expected to result in higher absorption of CO2. In comparison to RC housing of the same scale, Daito Group's ビンゴルーレット housing is forecast to achieve a decarbonization effect of 274 t-CO2 per building, which is equivalent to the CO2 emissions of approximately 61 households. Furthermore, by using 100% renewable energy in the manufacture of ビンゴルーレット, we also reduce CO2 emissions during production. Finally, we use 100% domestically grown wood to produce ビンゴルーレット, which contributes to the promotion of forestry and regional revitalization in Japan.
Use of ビンゴルーレット at ROOFLAG Rental Housing Exhibition Hall
In June 2020, Daito Group opened the ROOFLAG Rental Housing Exhibition Hall in Shinonome, Koto Ward, Tokyo, for disseminating information on our latest research and initiatives in rental and ビンゴルーレット housing, and lifestyle. The facility features a distinctive triangular roof constructed from ビンゴルーレット beams. The site also showcases a model of a Forterb ビンゴルーレット rental housing complex.
